Dr. Jennifer H. Kuo is a board-certified surgeon-scientist nationally recognized for her expertise in thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery. She is a high-volume, minimally invasive surgeon specializing in advanced techniques such as transoral thyroidectomy and robotic adrenalectomy, and is an internationally recognized leader in ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation of thyroid nodules. Among the earliest adopters of radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), ethanol ablation, and nanosecond pulsed field ablation (nsPFA) in the United States, she founded and leads Columbia University’s Interventional Endocrinology program, one of the nation’s first, most comprehensive, and highest-volume centers for ablative thyroid treatments. The center conducts the highest number of clinical trials focused on percutaneous ablative therapies for thyroid disease. Dr. Kuo has trained and mentored numerous ablation proceduralists worldwide and was a founding member and served as the Inaugural President of the North American Society for Interventional Thyroidology (NASIT). Dr. Kuo also serves as Vice Chair of Informatics for the Department of Surgery and as Program Director of both the Endocrine Surgery Fellowship and Research Programs. Her research focuses on predictive algorithms and the safe adoption of new surgical technologies. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Surgical Research and serves on the editorial boards of World Journal of Surgery and VideoEndocrinology.
