Stefan Worgall, M.D., PhD.

Description

Dr. Stefan Worgall is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Immunology at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics and Genetic Medicine and a nationally and internationally recognized expert in pediatric lung disease. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and completed his pediatric training in Germany and at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Worgall has led the pediatric pulmonology program at Weill Cornell for many years and has helped build innovative, multidisciplinary programs, including a pediatric aerodigestive program, a pediatric sleep program and a comprehensive asthma program, designed to provide coordinated, state-of-the-art care for children with complex respiratory conditions. His research program is internationally recognized and focuses on asthma, respiratory infections, and chronic lung diseases in children. His work has been continuously supported by the National Institutes of Health and has advanced the understanding of how airway biology and immune responses contribute to disease. Dr. Worgall has authored more than 100 scientific publications in leading medical journals and is actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of pediatric specialists and physician-scientists.
