The loss of David’s father at a young age made him understand the importance of domestic help early on. When he was four years old, David’s mother enrolled in graduate school and enlisted the services of an extraordinary Colombian woman who worked with David’s family for years and played an instrumental role in shaping David into the person he is today. David understands that while personal staff is a luxury, it is also a necessity, and finding the perfect hire is invaluable. By his twenty-first birthday, David was successfully producing events in one of New York City’s largest nightclubs and managing a four-star restaurant. He went on to work as a trader and trading floor manager on Wall Street before returning to hospitality in 2005. David’s return to the service industry happened by chance when a friend asked him to assist in the planning of a Fourth of July party at a private Hamptons estate. A weekend’s worth of work became a new career when the party’s host offered David a full-time position as his Butler/Estate manager. In his new role, David assisted in the day-to-day management and operation of the family’s 50-acre East Hampton estate, their six-story townhouse, and was responsible for the hiring, training, and scheduling of a large domestic staff. It was while searching for candidates that David first discovered a serious shortage of both qualified candidates and employment agencies to represent those candidates. In 2006, David joined a New York City search firm as a recruiter and later became Vice President and Partner. After six years and hundreds of successful long-term placements within private homes, c-level offices, and major luxury brands, David decided to strike out on his own. In March of 2012, David opened the doors to his wholly owned and operated firm, Hire Society.

A southern boy by nature and an urbanite at heart, Brian enjoys working with clients individually with a view to building lifestyle. Believing that if you make work play, you’ll play your whole life, Brian hopes to match job candidates with positions in which their enjoyment of the work can be translated into success. His first job was with an antiques dealer on fabled Magazine Street in New Orleans. Working with interior design firms and individuals alike, he was impressed with the importance of establishing a convivial atmosphere in dealing with clients – one in which wine and excellent food played important roles. As a New Orleans transplant in Manhattan, he applied this enjoyment of event planning and indulging in food to a role in business development for a high-end culinary school. He now enjoys representing candidates for Private Chef positions by helping them to curate aspects of their individual talent and style in compiling sample menus and photo-journals of their work. It is important to him that candidates are well-matched to the requirements of the families who trust Hire Society to maintain their lifestyles. In doing so, he hopes both parties will find themselves in an arrangement that works and makes them both happy.

In searching for an associate to oversee our Bridgehampton office, Hire Society was surprised and delighted to find a combination of both experience and freshness in Hamptons native Jenna Pokorny. She believes that matching a candidate to the right job should be much more than simply finding a fit – it should be a fun experience that draws out the best of candidates and clients alike. With a degree in elementary education and work experience both as a nanny and an early-childhood educator, Jenna brings a nurturing quality to our placement process. Whether working with students one-on-one or organizing structured playtime for groups, Jenna’s classroom experience allowed her to relate to the motivations that drive each individual student. She enjoys meeting candidates to assess the best of their personalities and proven work history. In screening for individual placements, she can relate to the daily requirements of supporting the Hamptons lifestyle. Having spent many summers walking the beaches with her Maltipoo Bella, she appreciates the caution and foresight that attend every moment of joy and happiness. As her extensive nanny experience has taught her, reliability and responsibility require active mindfulness. When she sees this philosophy in the candidates she meets, she knows that she’s made a connection.
