  • Harry Koster

    MD

    Dr. Harry Koster is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specially trained in cornea and external diseases of the eye. He is a highly experienced refractive surgeon who has performed over 25,000 LASIK and cataract procedures for patients in the New York City area. In addition to performing thousands of laser vision correction procedures, Dr. Koster was one of the first New York eye surgeons to utilize new multifocal lens technologies such as the Technis, Crystalens and ReSTOR lenses. In addition, Dr. Koster has been named by his peers to the New York Super Doctors list for the second year in a row, as listed in the May 19, 2013 New York Times Magazine special advertising supplement. After receiving his Bachelors of Arts degree in Biochemistry at Columbia College, he received his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School, Texas. Dr. Koster then returned to Manhattan and interned at New York Hospital/Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. He completed his ophthalmic residency training at New York Eye and Ear, the nation’s first eye specialty hospital, located in the heart of New York City. His interest in refractive surgery and corneal topography led him, before LASIK was even FDA-approved in the United States, to pursue a prestigious fellowship in refractive surgery in Hotel-Dieu, Paris, one of the leading eye hospitals in France. Following his fellowship in Paris, Dr. Koster completed another refractive surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School where he continued to investigate surgical therapies for refractive errors. Dr. Koster, a Swiss-American citizen, comes from a long tradition of skilled physicians. His grandfather, Harry Koster, was a pioneering general surgeon in Brooklyn 70 years ago, performing many innovative surgical techniques, often with limited anesthesia. Dr. Koster’s father, Robert Koster, is one of the preeminent internists in Dallas, TX. Consequently, Dr. Koster developed a deep respect for the field of medicine and for ethical patient care from an early age. He prides himself on carrying on the family tradition of excellence in medicine and in being a technically superior surgeon. Dr. Koster, along with all the staff and doctors at NY Vision Group, are dedicated to helping patients realize their best vision to help them lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Dr. Koster is currently the Medical Director of the Ophthalmology Department at Wyckoff Hospital, an assistant clinical professor at New York Eye and Ear and the Surgeon Director of Cataract and Refractive Surgery at SUNY College of Optometry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the Academy of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has been a member of the Medical Scientific Advisory Board of the New York Eye Bank for over 10 years. Dr. Koster is fluent in both French and Spanish. He has been in private practice in New York for over 20 years. He is an avid runner, having completed over ten NYC marathons, and lives in downtown Manhattan with his wife and two children. Dr. Koster and NY Vision Group are happy to announce that they are contributing sponsora for Eumaeus Asset Management-Fuoriclass Racing, a New York-based amateur cycling sub-team chartered through the Century Road Club Association (CRCA). The current roster of nine racers can be found most weekdays training in Central Park early in the morning. On weekends, Fuoirclasse racers often compete in Central Park circuit races, starting as early as 5:30 a.m. In addition to racing in Central Park, Fuoirclasse teammates participate in events throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast region. Most of the team will race between 30 and 40 days during the March through September season.   • Cynthia Hsu

    MD

    Dr. Cynthia Hsu is a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon who practices comprehensive eye care and specializes in diseases of the cornea on a consulting basis for NY Vision Group. She graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Johns Hopkins University and received her medical training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Hsu remained at Johns Hopkins University Wilmer Eye Institute for her residency training and then was selected for a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Hsu has also been recognized in the publication, “Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists.”

  • Alan Dayan

    MD

    Dr. Alan Dayan is NY Vision Group’s consulting retinal specialist, dedicated to treating medical and surgical diseases of the retina, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and retinal tears and detachments, among other retinal disorders. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Dayan attended medical school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his internship in surgery at St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan and performed his residency in ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, the premier institute in New York City. Dr. Dayan completed a retinal fellowship at the Vitreo-Retinal Foundation in Tennessee and is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Dayan has been in private practice since 1998 and currently lives in Manhattan with his wife and two daughters.

  • James Kirszrot

    As NY Vision Group's consulting oculoplastic specialist, Dr. James Kirszrot is uniquely qualified to treat the delicate skin of the eyelid and face. Dr. Kirszrot is a board certified ophthalmologist, specializing in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed his undergraduate training at Cornell University and received his MD degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 2001. After completing his residency in ophthalmology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, he moved to Boston to complete a two year highly specialized fellowship in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/ Harvard Medical School. His area of expertise involves medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the eyelids, the lacrimal (tear duct) system, and the orbit (eye socket). This includes malpositions, ptosis, and periocular growths and cancers. Dr. Kirzsrot also specializes in cosmetic eyelid surgery and has extensive experience performing blepharoplasty surgery (“eyelid lifts”), midface lifts, surgery to remove “lower lid bags”, as well as using BOTOX and fillers to treat facial wrinkles.

  • Nicole Aucoin

    Dr. Nicole Aucoin is a licensed optometrist providing comprehensive eye exams for NY Vision Group. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Mathematics and Biochemistry in 2009 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Afterwards she received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2013 from the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Aucoin is a member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry. She currently lives in Queens NY.

  • Neelofar Ghaznawi

    Dr. Neelofar Ghaznawi is an attentive and thorough ophthalmologist and cornea and extrenal disease specialist. Her goal as a practioner is to keep her patients well informed and to work with them to develop a treatment plan best suited to their individual needs. She is board-certified and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Women in Ophthalmology. Dr. Ghaznawi specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions of the cornea. Her special interests include severe dry eye, inflammatory conditions of the lid and infections diseases of the cornea.   • Daniel Epshtein

    Dr. Daniel Epshtein is a licensed optometrist providing comprehensive eye care at NY Vision Group. Dr. Epshtein received his Doctorate of Optometry from the State Univesity of New York College of Optometry. During his doctoral studies, he was involved in multiple research projects aimed at elucidating the disease process in a multitude of ocular disorders, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease and Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy. Dr. Epshtein combines his research experience with the latest clinical practices to detect sight-threatening eye disorders early and provide the best treatment options available. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and has presented his work at multiple national conferences.

  • Roman Kakzanov

    Dr. Roman Kakzanov is a licensed optometrist provding primary eye care for NY Vision Group. He graduated with honors from Queens College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology as well as a minor in Chemistry. He completed his optometric education at the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Kakzanov is responsible for the management and care of pre and post-operative patients, as well as those with varying degress of ocular disease. Dr. Kakzanov is a member of the American Optometric Association.
