• FRACTIONAL RESURFACING

  If you have brown spots, acne related scars, wrinkles or uneven skin tone, you may be a candidate for Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing. Fractional laser resurfacing is a non-invasive procedure that can restore your skin and treat many imperfections. The fractional laser produces tiny micro-thermal healing zones to form beneath the skin. This spurs your natural production of collagen cells and gives skin a more youthful and vibrant appearance and feeling. Laser & Mohs Surgery of New York offers fractional laser treatment in addition to our general dermatological treatments. Fractional laser treatment is relatively painless and under the care of an experienced professional, such as Dr. Quintana, your old blemishes will soon be gone and skin restored. With Total FX treatments, Dr. Quintana is able to treeat the deep layers of your skin, but keep downtime to a minimum. Now deep wrinkles, skin texture and scars are dramatically improved after one treatment. One treatment of TotalFX is equivalent to four to six treatments of fraxel laser, and in most cases a single treatment will last up to 10 years. TotalFX for Total Solutions Cosmetic imperfections can appear on our skin at all stages of life and include wrinkles, scars, brown spots and more. To improve and remove these unwanted imperfections, TotalFX is your solution. By treating deep in the dermis, as well as the skin’s surface TotalFX is your choice for total outcomes. The TotalFX procedure is applied in two steps. First you physician will numb your skin with a topical anesthetic to aid in treatment comfort. The DeepFX laser is applied first followed by the ActiveFX. Your total treatment time will last approximately 30 minutes, though total time will vary depending on the area treated. During the procedure, you will feel a warm sensation as the laser is applied. Immediately following treatment, your skin will be warm, and will appear as though you were sunburned. Your physician will provide you with a skin care regimen to follow for the days following your treatment and as your skin heals, you will begin to notice an improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, tone and texture. You should expect to continue to see improvement for up to six months following the procedures.

• Hair Removal

  For some, having an excess of body hair, or hair in undesirable places, can damage our confidence, making life difficult and public appearances embarrassing. There are many perfectly natural reasons why body and facial hair grows the way it does, and where it does, but luckily, a visit to our spa can help eliminate this problem from your life – forever. Depending on your skin type and health status, laser hair removal treatments can be extremely beneficial. The elimination of unwanted hair can take up to six sessions, with intervals of up to a few months between each session. When you visit us for laser hair removal in New York City, we harness state of the art laser technology. Depending on the areas that are treated, sessions can last from a few minutes up to one hour. You will have an initial consultation, during which we will discuss your eligibility, how the treatment works, and schedule a treatment time. After arriving for your appointment, we will clean the area to be treated, apply a topical anesthetic, and give you safety glasses or eye shields to place over your eyes. Once we have prepared you for your laser hair removal in New York City, we will remove the anesthetic and apply a clear gel to the skin, which helps the chilled laser hand piece glide. The hand piece will be moved across the treatment area in an even pattern for one or more passes to achieve even coverage as the laser energy is delivered. After treatment your skin may appear flushed and/or swollen. This will usually subside after a few hours or days, depending on the intensity of treatment. Even if treated hair appears unchanged, it is now lifeless and will fall out over time. Lastly, you should take care to limit sun exposure and work with your doctor for post treatment care.

• Skin Resurfacing

  ResurFx is an extremely effective method of treating a variety of skin conditions. If you have noticed hyperpigmentation of your skin, have an uneven skin tone, age spots, acne scars, or wrinkles – ResurFX can help improve the tone, texture, and appearance of your skin. Unlike many other systems, ResurFX can be used in combination with dermal fillers and neurotoxins such as Botox. This can enhance your results even further than treatment with ResurFX alone. ResurFx is what is called a “non-ablative” laser, meaning that it stimulates the growth of collagen in your skin without actually disturbing your skin. When collagen is boosted, your skin begins to plump, look smoother, more even and younger. The laser used works by sending tiny beams of light into your skin and below the surface. ResurFX is somewhat unique in that your provider will only have to pass the laser device over your skin one time. This means you’ll receive faster treatment and less disruption to your tissues. If you are concerned about pain during your laser resurfacing treatment, your Laser & Mohs Dermatology physician can provide a topical anesthetic to make you more comfortable during treatment. However, most patients report a pain-free experience with ResurFX treatment. The laser uses a cooling technology to ensure that your skin is not burned, or overheated in any way. One of the many advantages to the ResurFX system is that you can return to work, school or other regular activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some redness or swelling for up to a week after treatment, however, these side effects should go away on their own, without additional treatment.

• Botox

  Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine (onabotulinumtoxinA) that the doctor injects into your muscles to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. People 18 to 65 years of age are eligible. At our practice, Dr. Quintana administers Botox® Cosmetic as a simple, nonsurgical treatment into the area you’d like to improve. If you’re concerned about pain or have sensitive facial areas, we’ll be happy to apply an ice pack or anesthetic cream to the area. The purified protein from the injection goes to work immediately on the facial muscles that are causing wrinkles. You will begin to notice visible improvements over the next month. After identifying your trouble areas, your doctor may ask if you prefer to numb the area before the injections. If you choose to do so, the doctor can inject local anesthesia into your skin, otherwise, you can use a numbing cream or cold spray. Once Dr. Quintana numbs the area sufficiently, she will begin to inject tiny amounts of Botox directly into the skin or the underlying muscles where your wrinkles are most evident. The number of injections will depend upon the extent of the area that will be treated. Botox is essentially an outpatient procedure that can be done in minutes in the doctor’s office. To be able to effectively eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles, Botox acts by temporarily paralyzing muscle activity, specifically on the areas that are prone to wrinkle formation. The botulinum toxin is able to block certain chemical signals that cause muscle contraction from the nerves, which results in the temporary relaxation of the facial muscles that lie directly under your wrinkles. The effects of Botox usually begin to show a few days after the treatment. You will notice the wrinkles on your forehead, the frown lines in between your eyebrows, and the crow’s feet from the corners of your eyes begin to fade as the paralyzing effect of the treatment starts to take effect on the underlying muscles. The wonderful wrinkle erasing effects of Botox can last between 3 to 12 months, after which you will need follow-up injections to maintain the desired effect. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your results may vary – be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about what you can expect and when to schedule your next appointment.

• Kybella

  Maybe that extra fullness beneath your chin is something you’ve had your whole life, something that developed over the years, or something you noticed recently. This may be a condition called submental fullness, or “double chin.” Submental fullness can be caused by weight gain, genetics, or aging. If you’re bothered, you’re not alone. 1 in 4 adults surveyed online was bothered by their double chin. Diet and exercise alone may not help. At Laser & Mohs Dermatology of New York, we have a solution for you: KYBELLA® Cosmetic Treatments. KYBELLA® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells when injected under the chin for an improved profile. Multiple injections are given under the chin per treatment. Typically, 3 to 6 treatments are required and are given at least one month apart. We can’t determine that without seeing you in the office for a consultation. • Juvederm

  JUVEDERM TREATMENT Juvederm was approved in 2006 by the FDA as a safe option for softening wrinkles, plumping lips, and maintaining a youthful appearance – and since then, its popularity has skyrocketed. Especially here in New York City at our Dermatology office. The Juvederm procedure at our office in New York City is simple, painless, and requires little to no recovery time. Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in our bodies and absorbs 1,000 times its weight in water. When this is injected into the problem areas of the face, it adds volume to the area, smoothing out wrinkles, lines and folds. Hyaluronic acid helps maintain or even accelerate the forming of new collagen. Our New York City clients are happy with the results, which are immediately visible and last up to one year. Juvederm® is the only hyaluronic filler to last up to one year. Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvederm® XC allows your doctor to administer it easily and smoothly. The doctor injects Juvederm® XC directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Additionally, Juvederm® XC contains lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience. Our staff may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.
