Our services include wellness exams, sick visits, vaccinations, boarding, microchipping, health/travel certificates, nutrition/weight management, behavioral counseling, allergy/dermatology, euthanasia, acupuncture, laser therapy, x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, parasite testing/prevention, dental, surgery, spay & neuter, pain management, & more. We also accept pet insurance, just let us know at the time of your appointment that you have pet insurance. We are open seven days a week & look forward to meeting you!

    Dr. Stephanie Liff is veterinarian and owner of both Pure Paws Veterinary Care locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. In pursuit of her dream to help pets with high-quality animal medicine, Dr. Liff attended the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2009. Since then, she has cared for countless pets in the Greater New York City area. Her professional interests include dermatology and internal medicine.

  • Brian P. Grossbard

    DVM

    Growing up in Florida, Dr. Brian P. Grossbard, D.A.C.V.S., knew he wanted to combine his deep love for animals with his passion for medical science. In pursuit of his life-long dream to become a veterinary surgeon, Dr. Grossbard earned his DVM from the University of Florida in 2005. As a graduate, Dr. Grossbard completed a number of internships in Boston and New York such as emergency medicine, internal medicine, general and specialty surgery, medical neurology and neurosurgery, and a comprehensive 3-year surgical residency. Dr. Grossbard has practiced veterinary surgery in New York since 2006. Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, his interests include spinal trauma, critical care of surgical patients, minimally invasive surgery and surgical oncology. He is also a certified provider of stem cell therapy. Currently, a referral based surgeon at Pure Paws, Dr. Grossbard is also a surgical specialist at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers. He also regularly volunteers his expertise at local rescue organizations. When Dr. Grossbard is not providing leading veterinary care, you may find him chauffeuring his rescue pup, Nemo, around the Greater New York City area. He also enjoys bicycling, traveling with his dog, and savoring all the art, food and culture Brooklyn has to offer.

  • Imy Slome

    Dr. Imy Slome grew up in New York City and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Pennsylvania in 2016. She interned at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Slome has professional interests in internal medicine and emergency care. Inspired to help animals when her first dog, Shady, was in an accident, Dr. Slome developed a passion for veterinary care. Seeing how the veterinarian saved her dog’s life motivated her to do the same for others. Dr. Slome shares a home with her husband and Pit Mix, Sosa. In her spare time, she likes spinning, sailing, hiking and hanging with friends. Fun fact: She was born in London, UK!

  • Ashley Cheung

    Dr. Ashley Cheung is an Associate Veterinarian at Pure Paws Veterinary Care. Dr. Cheung earned her Bachelor of Art in Art History from University College London in 2014 and her Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Royal Veterinary College in 2020. In addition to her education, Dr. Cheung also held an internship at Blue Pearl in Midtown and Queens from 2020 to 2021. Dr. Cheung’s areas of professional interest include neurology and surgery. Dr. Cheung was inspired to pursue a career in the veterinary industry by her love of animals and passion for making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. A fun fact about Dr. Cheung is that she is a citizen of four different countries! Dr. Cheung was born in Vancouver, grew up in Hong Kong, and moved to the UK at the age of 13. In 2020, Dr. Cheung relocated to New York City with her partner and their 7-month-old Beagle/Chihuahua/Boykin puppy named Uchu. In her free time, Dr. Cheung loves visiting art galleries, theatre, shopping, traveling, and hiking. Dr. Cheung is also a huge foodie and loves to try new restaurants and cuisines wherever she goes. In addition to being a veterinarian, Dr. Cheung is an Art Historian and is passionate about paintings, sculptures, interior design, and ceramics.

  • Matthew Miller

    DVM

    Dr. Matt Miller is a Kentucky native who fell in love with New York after spending a summer writing for Slate magazine in 2016. Although his parents disliked animals, Dr. Miller discovered a passion for them by volunteering with friends at humane societies and rescue groups back home. He graduated from Auburn University's vet school in 2019 and has been practicing in the city since. He has special interests in pathology, neurology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. He also continues to work extensively with animal rescue organizations in the city. In his free time, Dr. Miller works as a magazine editor, freelance journalist, and fiction writer.

  • Kathryn Wexler

    DVM

    Dr. Katie Wexler is an Associate Veterinarian at Pure Paws Veterinary Care. She earned her dual degree in Biology and Public Health from Lehigh University and went on to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2023. During this time, Dr. Wexler completed externships at the AMC in internal medicine, Oradell and VEG in emergency medicine, and ASPCA Aiken in surgery and wellness care. Her areas of professional interest include soft tissue surgery, cardiology and wellness care. Dr. Wexler values forming strong connections and trust with her pet patients and their owners in order to provide high-quality, reliable, and life-long medical care. Dr. Wexler is originally from Long Island, NY and now resides in New York City. Prior to veterinary school, she worked at two different veterinary practices on Long Island and has spent time over the past eight years as a volunteer and medical extern at North Shore Animal League America. In her free time, Dr. Wexler enjoys exploring different areas of the city, dining at new restaurants with friends, traveling, and baking delicious desserts.
