A Mom and a Pediatric Dentist Suzanne Grady, DDS, is an experienced pediatric dentist in New York City with 20 years of experience treating the unique needs of children and adolescents. She provides comprehensive and compassionate dental care at Open Sesame Dentistry in the Lincoln Square area in Manhattan. Dr. Grady started her journey towards private practice by working as a dental assistant while completing her bachelor’s in child psychology at the University of Buffalo. She was offered a full academic scholarship from New York University and completed her dental degree there, graduating in the upper quintile of her class. While at NYU, she completed a residency in TMJ disorder. She then completed a three-year residency at Montefiore Hospital and St. Barnabas Hospital, which further diversified and quantified her skills. After completing her pediatric specialty, Dr. Grady remained at St. Barnabas Hospital and remains a professor there, teaching the future of pediatric dentists. Dr. Grady had the opportunity to work at the Rose F. Kennedy Center for the developmental disabled, which allowed her to hone her skills with special needs patients and integrate their treatment into her workday seamlessly. She also completed her clinical research project on “Pediatric Patent Acceptance of Digital Radiography” when there were only two companies offering the product at that time. She has also worked with a diverse population in Connecticut and New Jersey, two states that do not have fluoride in the water, which, unfortunately, resulted in the need for multiple crowns in preschool and elementary school populations. Dr. Grady began using white crowns in 1999, which are just now entering the mainstream of pediatric dentistry. She is a member of the New York State Dental Association and has been recognized as a “New York Family Favorite Local Dentist” in 2014, “New York Top Doctor”, and “Expert Network Distinguished Dentist.” As a mother herself, Dr. Grady is attuned to the differing needs of each child and family dynamics at each stage of development. With the birth of her second child, she decided to move to Manhattan, and in October 2007, Open Sesame Dentistry was established on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
