An internationally recognized leader in neurosurgery, David Jonathan Langer, MD, holds the distinguished position of Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is a visionary who spearheaded and helped develop the critically acclaimed Netflix documentaries Lenox Hill and Emergency NYC, which set a new standard for medical documentaries by highlighting the unique care and culture at Lenox Hill Neurosurgery.Recruited to Lenox Hill Hospital in 2013 as Director of Neurosurgery, Dr. Langer was tasked with building an outstanding clinical entity in the neurosciences and creating an entirely new environment for patients and their families. A third-generation medical doctor, he attended the University of Pennsylvania and its medical school, where he completed his neurosurgical residency. He joined North Shore-LIJ's new academic neurosurgery department in 2010 after completing a neuroendovascular fellowship at SUNY/Buffalo.Dr. Langer has dedicated the majority of his clinical and academic attention to benign brain tumors, spinal surgery and diseases of the brain's vessels, establishing himself as an internationally recognized expert in cerebral revascularization and cerebral aneurysms.

He is also a recognized thought leader in the application of consumer information technology in medicine, lecturing widely on the design and implementation of these technologies. Dr. Langer has extensively published and spoken nationally and internationally on vascular disorders such as aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVM) of the brain, and is considered one of the leading cerebral bypass surgeons in the country.In 2011, Dr. Langer founded the Moyamoya Center of New York, continuing to innovate in the field of cerebral revascularization. Beyond clinical innovation, he possesses a profound interest in healthcare technology, co-founding Playback Health, an innovative platform utilizing audio, video, and AI for patient and provider communication. Furthermore, Dr.

Langer and his team created the BrainTerns virtual internship, which has attracted over 17, 000 aspiring doctors, PAs, and nurses.Dr. Langer has received numerous accolades throughout his training and career, including being named a Top Doctor and New York Magazine's Best Doctor.
