Products And Services

  • Gynecology

The routine annual exam begins with a thorough interval medical history. We will ask about any new medical conditions or changes in chronic issues. We will review your medications; please bring a list of your current medications and their doses, especially if the list is extensive. We will also discuss pertinent family health issues. We will also address any specific concerns that have arisen since your last checkup. Some patients find it useful to bring a list with them. A complete physical will center on the breast and pelvic exams. Pap smears, which screen for cervical abnormalities, are regularly performed via the liquid-based Thin Prep method. Based on risk factors, patient concerns, and medical history, additional testing might also be done. Any necessary blood work is performed in the office. We will also review the indication for outside tests such as mammograms, bone density studies, and colonoscopies, and make appropriate referrals as necessary. During flu season we offer the influenza vaccine. Gardasil is also available for protection against the Human Papilloma Virus. Additional studies, tests, and vaccines are performed as clinically indicated. In the office, we perform trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal sonograms, saline-infusion sonograms, endometrial aspirations, colposcopies and LEEP procedures. Dr. Goldman is prepared to assist you with the full spectrum of gynecological concerns. Some of the common ones include: Endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, fibroids, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, menstrual irregularities, PCOS, vaginal infections, UTI’s, ovarian cysts, abnormal Pap smears, sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, IUD’s, sterilization, menopause, breast problems, infertility, osteoporosis, hormone replacement therapy, and sexual problems.

  • Integrative Women's Health

Standard western medicine is a brilliant and successful approach to healthcare. From surgery to antibiotics to MRI’s, this approach to improving health has been spectacularly beneficial. Unfortunately, not every ailment is fully addressed by this model. Many patients continue to suffer from chronic problems that don’t respond well to the traditional medical model. Many people are concerned that standard treatment options can be harsh and harmful. They are concerned with adverse side effects or long-term sequela of various therapies. They seek a more gentle, natural and holistic approach to medical care. Frequently, physicians diminish this approach; I have often heard the statement from my colleagues, “That sounds great, but there’s just no data.” Actually, there is data. There is a tremendous amount of data in the most reputable scientific journals regarding the equal or greater effectiveness and lower toxicities of many non-traditional therapies. Physicians, like other professionals, typically stick with the principles they were taught in school and during their training. They are slow to accept new options, and rarely seek out opportunities to learn about, much less incorporate them. Like you, I have felt frustrated by the limited options afforded by traditional medicine and have sought to learn about additional therapies throughout my career. From Functional Medicine to acupuncture and the use of various natural supplements and beyond, I embrace every option to traditional care. I personalize my recommendations for your concerns, integrating the very best of traditional medicine and alternative medicine for your health and your goals.

  • Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is highly personalized, precise and analytic medical care, which evaluates each individual’s concerns, symptoms and goals. We investigate the root causes of your symptoms by assessing your particular genetics, biochemistry, metabolism, and physiology. We also carefully evaluate your environment and lifestyle as contributing causes of your symptoms or condition. Using up-to-date medical literature, we devise a customized plan of action to help you achieve your optimal health. We are equally concerned with your present comfort and your future health. Long-term health comes from optimizing the body on the deepest levels. Traditional medicine asks “What?” What disease does this patient have? Functional Medicine asks “Why?” Why did this person develop these symptoms? “Why” is a more profound question, and yields answers that can dictate a path toward wellness, often without resorting to medications. We achieve wellness by improving: lifestyle, nutrition, stress, hydration, relationships, sleep, and exercise Given the proper raw ingredients, our bodies have a remarkable ability to heal; starved of the essentials, our magnificent bodies will falter and fail. Our integrative approach allows for combining traditional as well as functional, natural and holistic approaches as applicable. This is the time to heal. This is the time to take charge of your life. You have never been this old before – and you will never be this young again. Let’s develop a therapeutic partnership and work together to maximize your health!
