Dr. Lloydine J. Jacobs is proud to serve patients at NexGen Orthopedics in Hawthorne, Clifton, and Norwood, New Jersey. She is also located in midtown Manhattan, New York City, and in northeast Philadelphia Dr. Jacobs always knew that she wanted to be a doctor. Her interest in medicine was inspired by her older brother’s experiences. After nearly a decade of hard work and relentless determination, her older brother, Lloyd Jacobs II, finally earned his admission to Rutgers Medical School. About six weeks after receiving his acceptance letter, Lloyd went out to run some errands when he sustained a gunshot injury to the head from a stray bullet. Everyone, including his medical team, was certain that he would not survive. However, he eventually underwent a surgical procedure that allowed his brain more room to swell and which ultimately saved his life. From that moment onward, 5-year-old Lloydine resolved to become a surgeon so that she too could save lives, just like her brother’s. (And, Lloyd, with the support of a loving family and that same unwavering determination, went on to medical school and has been a practicing physician for over two decades now.) Dr. Lloydine Jacob’s academic excellence enabled her to graduate from high school at the age of only 15-years-old with high honors. Upon graduation, Dr. Jacobs immediately enrolled in the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, a 7-year B.S./MD program that would prepare her for her medical career. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Dr. Jacobs graduated from Albany Medical College with her Doctorate degree in Medicine at only 22 years of age. She then took the United States Medical Licensing Examination and scored in the top 1% of the nation. After demonstrating her mastery of physiology and pathology on the boards, Dr. Jacobs went on to complete her residency in Orthopedic & Spine Surgery at the world-renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She then supplemented her clinical experience by completing a fellowship at one of the best children’s hospitals in the world, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she received highly specialized training in pediatric orthopedics and spine surgery. Instead of immediately returning to New York to practice after completing her fellowship, Dr. Jacobs decided to work in an undeserved part of the country so that she could help those who did not have access to highly trained physicians. She practiced in Northeast Arkansas for about 2 years where she introduced minimally invasive spine surgery to the local hospitals and pioneered the use of regenerative spine and joint injections to provide a better quality of life for her patients. Dr. Jacobs then returned to the New Jersey area to serve as the chief surgeon of a multi-center facility. She recently opened her own practice specializing in minimally invasive interventions for back, neck, and and joint pain. Dr. Jacobs has written extensively on various spine and orthopedic topics and has won numerous awards for the quality of her patient care and scientific work. She has published over 15 peer reviewed articles in prestigious medical journals. She was recently awarded as a Top Doctor in New Jersey by the International Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. Today, she is known and loved by her patients for being a skilled surgeon who is thorough, compassionate, and has excellent bedside manner.
