  • Sarah E. Jordan

PT, DPT, Certified Schroth Scoliosis Therapist (C1) Clinical Director - Midtown West

Sarah Jordan knows the experience of physical therapy as both the patient and the therapist. At twelve years old, she was in a serious horseback riding accident. Her physical therapist throughout rehabilitation was Cynergy’s founder, Cynthia Gormezano, whose skills and expertise brought Sarah back to full-functionality. At the College of Holy Cross, Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree in Biological Psychology. A native New Yorker, she then moved back to her hometown and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Long Island University. In 2014, Sarah joined Cynergy as a full-time physical therapist. Sarah has treated patients from age three to 94. Her particular clinical interests lie in manual therapy and rehabilitative exercises to treat orthopedic, sports-related injuries, and pelvic health issues. She is certified by the Schroth Barcelona Institute for the conservative management of scoliosis. She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Every treatment consists of an individualized hands-on holistic approach that considers the unique functional goals of every patient. Sarah is a passionate believer in the mind-body connection and the importance of the therapist to consider the patient as a complete person and not just as an illness or injury. Patient education is also a priority because the better understanding a patient has of their diagnosis/prognosis, the faster they will heal. Patients learn how their movements and postural dysfunction may affect their condition. Sarah equips her patients with movement strategies and exercises so they can self-correct and maintain the gains they have achieved in therapy. In July 2019, the knee injury from the horseback riding accident put Sarah back on the operating table for the third time. She underwent a successful OATs procedure (osteochondral allograft transplant). Being a patient makes her empathetic to the struggles that her patients face. Outside of work, she now enjoys low impact activities such as swimming, barre, biking, and bellydancing, along with her interest in travel, skiing and learning new skills. She’s taken improv classes, Spanish lessons, and regularly attends continuing education seminars. She loves Broadway musicals and can sing along to every word of Les Misérables, Rent, and Hamilton.
